Top bedding components to improve style, quality and comfort

As a supplier of components to UK bed manufacturers since 1991, we at Handy know a thing or two about how a simple component can make a big difference, not only to improve the quality of the bed, but also to help improve manufacturing processes.

 

During the past year we have significantly expanded our range of bedding components through our trusted suppliers, while also developing brand new products and performing due diligence testing of these prior to bringing them to market.

 

In this month’s blog I wanted to highlight some of our latest and most popular ranges that are supporting bedding manufacturers to design and develop that perfect night sleep.

Tuft Length Adjustor (TLA)


 

The TLA product was designed and developed by Handy with the aim of putting mattress comfortability in the hands of the end consumer.

 

Tufted mattresses may experience up to 20% of settlement during the first few months of use as the various internal fillings are compressed due to mattress use. Mattresses are normally tufted to ensure that fillings do not shift and when the filling depth reduces during the settlement period the length of the tufts remains unchanged. As a result, the tufts can become loose and sit proud of the mattress surface.

 

Our innovative TLA enables the end consumer to easily shorten the tufts following this initial settlement period, restoring the mattress to its ‘pre delivery condition’ and allowing the fillings and tuft head to be adjusted and properly held in place to maintain optimum mattress comfort and longevity.

 

By shortening or lengthening the tuft length the end user has the potential to adjust the firmness of their mattress either zonally or for when a bed is shared by two people requiring differing levels of firmness. Shoulder or hip zoning can also be further enhanced by attaching TLAs in different colours for different areas of the mattress.

 

This product has already been highly commended in the National Bed Federation’s 2020 ‘Product Component of the Year’ award.

Ottoman Storage Ventilator

 
 

Our patented self-locking Storage Ventilator creates added value, provides air flow, contributes to health and safety and will add style to your Ottoman Box, Ottoman Bed Base or Drawered Divan.

 

This product is available in a variety of colours and finishes and will fit timber thicknesses of 10mm, 15mm, and 20mm. The patent refers to a unique locking system that enables quick and secure attachment.

Italian thread

 

We have partnered with Italian producer GL Cucirini to offer a wide range of sewing thread including bonded nylon, bonded or spun polyester in short or long fibre, and high tenacity 3-ply polyester.

 

Many of our customers are using excessively and unnecessarily strong (and therefore more expensive) thread relevant to the specific sewing application. This is in part due to the poor winding and poor lubrication of the current thread on the market during its production.

 

The advanced production technology of our Italian made thread is enabling us to introduce lower priced alternatives to our customers.

Along with both bonded nylon and bonded polyester thread we also stock spun polyester thread in both short fibre and long fibre form as well as high tenacity 3-ply polyester. Within our range there is a lower cost alternative for all.

Silk and Metallic Effect Rosettes
 

Style is a key consideration for manufacturers when producing beds, so we have developed some new Silk and metallic effect Rosettes to offer a fashionable sparkle to the tufting areas.

 

These Rosettes are woven in a combination of FR yarn and metallic-like thread (silver, gold or copper). We are delighted to add these new design registered tufting products to our range.
