Handy MD appointed to National Bed Federation Council
Posted on: June 13th 2023
We’re proud to announce that Handy’s Managing Director, Nick Harland-Smith, has been appointed to become a member of the National Bed Federation’s Council.
The decision was made following the NBF’s AGM that took place in May with the announcement of four new council members: Steve Warren, MD of Sleepeezee, Mike Holmes, MD of Leggett & Platt, Angela Moran, ESG Director at Silentnight, and Handy’s Nick Harland-Smith.
Speaking about his appointment, Nick said: “Handy Ltd has been a supplier member of the NBF for over 20 years. We consider it so important to support the bedding industry and our customers in any way that we can. I feel privileged to have been accepted on to the NBF Council and I look forward to serving the Federation in this new role.”
Handy has worked closely with the NBF for over 20 years and in 2022 we committed to support the NBF’s latest sustainability initiative, Pledge for Our Planet. The initiative calls for companies across the bed industry to take steps to addressing global environmental damage, with a target of 75% of new mattress sales being diverted from landfill by 2028.
The appointment of the new members of the council comes following four previous members stepping down from their positions. The refreshed council marks the start of a new era for the NBF with all members hoping to provide a fresh new perspective to help further develop the NBF’s strategy moving forward.
