How to ensure life and longevity of elasticated webbing

Ensuring that you are receiving premium elasticated webbing that offers “life” and longevity is not a straight-forward process. Many elastic webbings on the market will claim a particular percentage stretch but this will wane over a relatively short period of time causing the performance of the webbing to deaden.
Ultimately it is all about the rubber quality and content within the webbing and not just about the claimed headline stretch percentage following manufacture. Many crafty manufacturers will play around with the weaving speed of their looms to create a degree of “false” stretch/elongation. Or they may compromise on the quality of rubber used. But be assured that the % stretch immediately post manufacture of such webbing will quickly be compromised following a period of use.
