In manufacturing, reliability matters just as much as quality.
A delayed component can halt production, while inconsistent deliveries create unnecessary pressure for production teams trying to meet customer deadlines.
That's why the warehouse team at Handy Limited has built its distribution operation around flexibility as much as speed.
Each month, hundreds of pallets and thousands of parcels leave Handy's Stoke-on-Trent distribution centre, supplying bedding and upholstery manufacturers across the UK.
Working alongside logistics partner Emerge Global for pallet deliveries and DPD for smaller consignments and samples, the business can offer next-day delivery on many orders placed before midday, with the majority of stocked components delivered within two working days.
For Distribution Manager Sean Hodgson, it's about understanding how every customer works. "No two manufacturers operate in exactly the same way," says Sean. "Some customers want regular weekly deliveries that fit their production schedules, while others need components quickly to respond to changing demand. Our job is to make sure we're supporting their operation, not slowing it down."
That flexibility extends beyond logistics.
Each day Handy produces more than 1,500 bespoke component bags for customers, allowing manufacturers to receive components already packaged in branded bags featuring their own logo and product information and ready for customer orders. By completing this work before dispatch, manufacturers save valuable production time, warehouse space and labour.
Whether it's a single sample, a scheduled weekly delivery or a full pallet shipment, the focus remains the same: helping manufacturers keep production moving.
Because great distribution isn't simply about delivering products—it's about delivering confidence.
